To assist in highlighting the peri-operative investigation abnormalities. To integrate various results in one platform.
Brief Background
Problem Statement:
The current systems are not yet integrated. Results are not reviewed immediately (in the case of abnormalities) that lead to disastrous patient’s outcome
Expected Outcome:
The expected outcome will faster the decision making, minimizing errors, save the cost and better improvement of patients’ management. We expect to establish an Integrated and intelligent Peri-operative Investigation Medical Lab systems

Project Summary
Intelligent Peri-operative Medical Laboratory Investigation System would benefit the management in cardiothoracic surgical patients before, during and after surgery. The system is built to manage patients going for open heart surgery from ward admission, through ICU care, recovery and discharge, in which it is divided further into several components. The components include blood investigation, x-rays, angiograms,
echocardiography and lung function tests. Each component is responsible to collect significant data from its integrated functions and if possible, to provide support for decision making to be made by physicians. These system stores all data into their own database to be viewed by medical experts.
The current databases for Peri-operative Investigation in the cardiothoracic surgery are yet to be integrated. There is no centralization on these databases and thus, result in multiple databases with different platforms. This could lead into inefficiency in terms of time as no alertness and communications within the system. By introducing Intelligent Peri-operative Medical Laboratory Investigation System, it could assist medical experts in performing and acting upon laboratory investigation results before, during and after surgery in a single system. Databases would alert the healthcare personnel regarding all the abnormalities, have the ability to store, access and update, so that medical experts need not have to repeat the same investigations.
